Cardiologic Workup of the Equine Patient

Summary

The lectures will give an overview/review of the most common cardiac diseases in horses, including clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment. The objectives are to understand normal cardiovascular physiology, cardiac auscultation and special diagnostics used in the horse to be able to generate a list of differential diagnosis. Based on the findings and the knowledge of the natural progression of cardiac diseases the student should be able to formulate a prognosis for life expectancy and performance ability of the affected horse.
